Saving the Levels
Transition Vision's voluntary correspondent Colleen Jackson visited Westhay Moor on the Somerset Levels and spoke to Mark Steer from Somerset WildlifeTrust about the work that is going on to improve this unique habitat and remedy the problems caused by peat extraction and drainage. It's not simply a case of preserving wetland species of birds, mammals, insects and plants but also to create an environment that serves all interests, including the people that live and work in the area. If you would like to become involved with the Westhay Moor project or simply find out more, contact the Somerset Wildlife Trust.
